Spelunking is the sport of exploring a cave by walking, crawling, and sometimes swimming through water passages inside caves. 

However, that is only sometimes the case. If you want to go Spelunking, go with someone; it can be dangerous. There are Spelunking Organizations all throughout Missouri that you can join.

Bike the Entire Katy Trail

The Katy Trail is 240 miles that connect Menchens to Clinton. 

Essentially, connecting Saint Louis to Kansas City when you bike the entire trail. 

If you plan to bike the whole route, you should schedule food stops, hotels, and any other needs you may have along the path. 

However, it has been known that individuals have biked the entire course in one day, although this is uncommon.

Go on a Float Trip

Float Trips are a great way to spend the day on the river with friends and family, drinking, singing, and swimming. 

The great thing about Missouri is the many rivers running through, allowing for great floating destinations. 

You have the Big Piney River, Big River, Black River, Current River, Eleven Point River, and Elk River. 

These are just a few rivers that run through Missouri, allowing you to experience different rivers, scenic views, and currents.

Go to a Drive-In Theater

Drive-in Theaters define summertime. Stuffing your car with pillows and blankets to take to the drive-in theater. 

Upon arrival, you choose a spot in front of the massive screen while hearing tires roll through the gravel as other cars pull up around you.

Once the movie starts to play, you hear the synchronized sound of the film coming from all the cars around you.

You can go on a singular line that allows you to zip only one time, generally from the top of a tall building or hill to the bottom.

However, Missouri offers Parasailing at the Lake of the Ozarks. 

It allows you to check this off your Bucket List without getting a plane ticket and flying to the beach.

Just in case you don’t know what Parasailing is, it’s a kiting activity where an individual is tied to a boat and attached to a canopy. 

Therefore, allowing the individual to glide smoothly through the air.

Take a Boat Ride in an Old Mine

It’s not very often you can say you took a Boat Ride in the middle of a man-made cave that was once a mine. 

At Bonne Terre Mine, you can go on a boat tour inside the man-made cave!

Take a Tram Ride Through a Cave

Missouri is one of the only places you can tour a cave while riding on a jeep-drawn tram. It is a unique and relaxing way to see the Fantastic Caverns. 

The tour lasts approximately 55 minutes. 

The cave is open year-round, with a temperature of about 60 degrees. 

Even if visit during the middle of summer, or while it’s snowing outside, you can be assured the cave’s temperature will stay the same.

Go Horseback Riding

Horseback Riding is a fun way to explore the great outdoors! Horseback Riding can last approximately 1 hour to 4 hours depending on the venue you choose to go

Horseback Riding and the allocated time you choose (if various times are an option). 

There are several places you can go horseback riding in Missouri, such as Trout Lodge and Saddle Creek Horses.

Go Cliff Jumping

Wanna get your adrenaline pumping? 

Then you may be interested in Cliff Jumping. 

One of the most popular places to go cliff jumping is Fugitive Beach, located in Rolla, Missouri.

Riding a Mechanical Bull is a great way to feel what it is like to ride a bull without riding the real thing.

Caves you can tour includes Mark Twain Cave, Meramec Cave, and Talking Rock Caverns. These are just a few of the many caves you can tour.

You no longer have to vacation in Venetian to ride in a Gondola. 

Now in Kansas City, Missouri, Ambiance on the Water offers romantic Gondola tours throughout the downtown Plaza.

Visit a Sunflower Field

Sunflower fields are taking the nation by storm. 

Therefore, allowing more farmers to open their Sunflower fields to the public so you can get the perfect selfie. 

One of the most popular sunflower fields in Missouri is the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. 

Please note sunflowers are only in full bloom a few weeks of the year, so plan accordingly.

Skiing is a great sport that should be enjoyed at least once. 

Luckily, even without mountains and tons of snow, we can still enjoy skiing.

You can hike the tallest point in Missouri at Taum Sauk Mountain. 

Taum Sauk Mountain reaches 1,772 feet in the air! 

While at Taum Sauk Mountain, check out the nearby attractions, which include Elephant Rock State Park and Johnson Shut-ins.

Another great outdoor activity is Mountain Biking. Hitting the rugged trails and seeing the great outdoors while getting a workout.

Going Backpacking is another excellent adventure that you can partake in Missouri. In fact, several parks offer Backpacking. 

This includes Big Piney Trail at Paddy Creek Wilderness. This trail is 16.1 miles long and is considered a moderate hike.

Another Backpacking trail is Berryman Trail at Mark Twain National Forest. This trail is 27.1 miles long and is regarded as a moderate hike.

One of the longer trails in the Ozark Trail at Huzzah State Wildlife Management Area is approximately 47 miles long and considered moderate.

Run in a 5K Race

The great thing about running in a 5K is that there are always different theme races that make it fun. 

You have the Color Run, Glo Run, and holiday-themed races. 5K races are great for getting you motivated to work out.
