Go Rock Climbing at Sam’s Throne in Arkansas

About Sam's Throne Trail

What to Expect

Sam’s Throne Trail is a 2-mile in-and-out trail considered a moderate hike. The trail is a quick hike and should only take about 1 hour – 1.5 hours. The path is open year-round, allowing you to enjoy the views during any season! In addition to hiking, the park offers Rock Climbing and Scrambling.

Dogs are welcome on this trail. Since the path is short and quick, it is perfect for bringing fur babies. However, dogs must be kept on a leash.

Rock Climbing

Another significant aspect of this trail is its popular rock-climbing spot. If you hike to Sam’s Throne, you will likely first access the top. Thus, it would help if you rappeled down to the bottom to Rock Climb to the top.

Also, there are only a few sports lines. However, it is still one of the best rock-climbing spots in Arkansas. If you are into Rock Climbing, grab your gear and head out.

In addition to hiking and Rock Climbing, there is also primitive camping off the trailhead parking lot. There is no electricity or running water. However, if you are looking for a place to camp for the night to spend the following day hiking and rock climbing, then this is perfect.

Getting Here

You want to go South on Route 123 when you reach the intersection of State Route 74 and 123. Once you turn south on Route 123, you will continue until you see Sam’s Throne Campground Sign. Turn into the campground and follow the road until you see parking.
