About Pedestal Rocks Loop Trail

The Pedestal Rocks Loop Trail is located in Sand Gap, Arkansas, and is a part of the Ozark National Forest. The trail is 2.4 miles long and takes approximately 1.5 hours to hike.

The trail loops, so you don’t have to worry about finding an endpoint to turn around. All you have to do is follow the path. The trail is heavily-trafficked, causing a foot-beaten pathway making it easy to follow.

The trail is a moderate hike with an elevation of 331 feet. Although it is considered a moderate hike, it is excellent for all skill levels.

Along the trail, you may see waterfalls. However, the falls have been known to dry up during the hot summer heat. Therefore, if you go after a nice heavy rain, you will experience waterfalls. If you go during summer during a prolonged heat spell, the waterfalls may dry up.

If you are looking for amazing views in Arkansas, this is the trail you need to hike. Pedestal Rocks Loop Trail is approximately 2.4 miles long and is located in the Ozark National Forest.

You will experience amazing views of unique rock formations referred to as pedestals with the mountain backdrop. The views are spectacular. Once you get to the Pedestals, you will find smaller trails down to the lower portion below the bluffs and pedestals, where you can explore massive caves.

When you hike Pedestal Rocks Loop Trail, you will see a sign at a fork in the road. It will give you two directions, Pedestal Rocks Loop Trail or Kings Bluff Trail.

Therefore, giving you the option to hike either one or both pathways. Since the Kings Bluff Trail splits from Pedestal Rocks Loop Trail, we will provide you with all the information you need to know about the trail before you go.

The trail is easy to follow with signage, and the path is worn down since it is highly trafficked. Therefore, making it a short course to follow. The route will start in the woods until you reach the scenic overview with waterfalls, great views, and a view of the pedestal rocks. However, the scenic overview is worth hiking on this trail.

The trail features bluffs that do not have railings. The views are amazing from the bluffs, although it may not be safe for children.

Directions to Pedestal Rocks Loop Trail

To get to Pedestal Rock Loop Trail, you will want to take Arkansas 7 toward Pelsor. You will turn East on Arkansas and go 6 miles to see a trailhead parking lot on the south side next to the highway.

Important Information to Know Before You Go

These trails have high cliffs, so watch your children. Be careful stepping on the bluffs; not all have railings.
